After spending part of 2017 on the road with our own John Paul White, we're thrilled to welcome Lera Lynn for her Shoals' debut!
Singer-songwriter. Co-producer. Multi-instrumentalist. Lera Lynn juggles multiple roles on Resistor, an album that finds the Nashville transplant embellishing her Americana roots with a mix of spacey, left-of-center rock and experimental pop-noire.
Following the 2014 release of her critically-acclaimed sophomore release, The Avenues, Lynn spent 2015 in a creative whirlwind, kicking off the year with an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman and, months later, wrapping things up with a 39-date headlining fall tour. Along the way, she also played a role in shaping the dark direction of True Detective’s second season, both appearing in the popular HBO series as a barroom singer and contributing a handful of original songs to the show’s soundtrack. The response was overwhelming. True Detective’s teaser trailer, which featured a clip of Lynn’s “The Only Thing Worth Fighting For” (co-written with Rosanne Cash and T Bone Burnett), racked up more than 35 million views in a matter of months, giving Lynn the assurance that a wide audience did, indeed, exist for her brand of otherworldly music.
Tickets are $10. Doors are at 7PM.

Della Ray is a Florence based band led by principal songwriter Adam Morrow (guitarist with John Paul White). The group works through worlds of fuzzy indie rock, Kinksian folk, and dream pop, all with feet firmly planted in their home corner of north Alabama. After releasing their debut EP, Blue World, in November of 2017, the band has been holed up at Portside Sound for much of early 2018, at work on their first record.
The Prescriptions are a Nashville band of Alabama members, making their third trip to 116. Equally unafraid of overdriven guitars and attention to songcraft, the band tightly moves through the excellent pop senses of lead singer Hays Ragsdale's music to create an enveloping show. Great, guitar driven tunes.

ABOUT Sabra & The Get Rights
Sabra and the Get Rights is a band reminiscent of the days when Hank Williams’ injected some blues into his country soul, harkening back to the 1950s when honky tonk bands made sure the dance floor was full and pumping. If you are aware that the great and late Ray Price invented the shuffle beat, then you will love Sabra and the Get Rights. If your tapping toes inevitably lead you to kick up your heels on the dance floor if the right band is on the stage, then you will love Sabra and the Get Rights. If you enjoy the music of Dwight Yoakam, Milton Brown and His Musical Brownies, Loretta Lynn, The Mavericks, Dolly Parton, George Jones and Wanda Jackson, then you will love Sabra and the Get Rights.
ABOUT Cotton Clifton:

Seasick Steve’s journey has been an extraordinary one since he burst into the public consciousness with his amazingly raw, powerful emotional performances on TV. It is those astonishing and engaging live performances that have turned Steve and drummer Dan Magnusson into such a powerful force both Iive and on record around the world. The release of his last album in 2016 culminated in a performance at the iconic SSE Arena, Wembley, London and the album became Steve’s fifth consecutive Top 10 Album in the UK.
As he says, Steve is having the time of his life selling out venues and headlining festivals as he goes all over the world, and it’s the energy of putting new songs on record and the electricity of playing live to huge crowds that continue to drive him. The craziest, rockingest and wildest show you’ll see all summer.
The Pollies & The Underhill Family Orchestra Live in Florence!
“IN AN IDEAL WORLD, DISCOVERING A BAND LIKE THE POLLIES WOULDN’T BE THAT BIG OF A DEAL, BUT THEN AGAIN, IN AN IDEAL WORLD, EVERY BAND WOULD BE ABLE TO SEAMLESSLY BLEND AND ARRANGE THE ROOT ELEMENTS OF ROCK AND ROLL WHILE FORGING INTO NEW TERRITORY TO CREATE SONGS THAT SOUND SO NATURAL AND EFFORTLESS THAT YOU DON’T NOTICE THE INTRINSIC COMPLEXITY AND MASSIVE UNDERTAKING THAT EACH TRACK REPRESENTS.” - LAST.FM
"The alt-country band transcends the genre here, focusing on meandering-yet-careful lead vocals, soaring bgvs, twinkly lead guitar, and a reverb-laden sense of nostalgia. The arrangement is carefully layered and mixed to perfection–it feels effortless, even though there’s quite a bit going on."- Independent Clauses
The Underhill Family Orchestra:
The Underhill Family Orchestra, native to the Alabama delta, has been described as "outright anthemic" taking their compositions to "idyllic places" that make you want to "paint your face, forget your age, and kiss a stranger." With "the bare knuckled nature" of their sound and their command of the "intricate, melancholy and densely literate" themes in the songs they create, they invoke a "sense of riot" with their arm-swingin, foot-stomping, Appalachia-inspired sound that makes effort to "infuse sheer pop catchiness into the rootsier, grittier elements" made up of sultry and soulful 4-part vocal arrangements and a unique take on the southern sound for which Alabama is known. They have recently been in the studio after their October signing to Skate Mountain Records, and will be hitting the road this spring to promote their debut major record release set to drop in early 2018.
Jackson, MS' Young Valley sport three songwriters, songcraft honed by time on the road and in the practice room, and a new record that they say "falls off the bone." These Dial Back Sound artists ride into Florence with songs that range from fresh takes on traditional country to southern rock n roll.
JM Stevens rounds out the Mississippi bred evening of music, though he calls Austin, TX home now. The West Point raised songwriter can usually be found with his band Moonlight Towers, and we're excited to catch a solo set of material.
Doors at 7PM. Show at 8. Tickets are $5.
Songwriters In The Round Vol 5! These 3 excellent craftsmen will swap tunes, stories, riff on each other's work, and offer a glimpse into their creative processes.
Jay Burgess is the principal songwriter behind beloved Shoals band The Pollies. His work on records like Not Here and Where The Lies Begin have brought critical acclaim, both for their lyrical content and the sonic experimentation that has become a calling card of the band. Usually wielding an electric and backed by his wall-of-sound compatriots, catch Burgess' work flourish when stripped down to its essence.
Logan Ledger is a young songwriter from Nashville, TN. He's a reclusive presence online, but he's turned enough heads to catch the interest of legendary producer T Bone Burnett. Together, they are at work on Ledger's first record. His songs match that of a twentysomething disengaged with the headspinning flow of the age of social media: they patiently unfold, lifted by an incredible, timeless voice. He recently opened John Paul White's autumn tour, connecting with both John and his band of Florence based musicians as he won over room after room, night after night. We're proud to bring him to 116 for his first show in the Shoals.
Daniel Crisler is the driving force behind Exotic Dangers, a proud Single Lock Records band making tunes the old fashioned way: rock n roll, 4 musicians in a room, banging out atmosphere and groove over well crafted songs. Crisler has been a mainstay of the Shoals scene for years, playing in various bands, performing his own songs under various names, but it is the Dangers that solidify the energy of his unique songwriting voice. He will undoubtedly find a way to bring that to our writers in the round.

Christopher Paul Stelling as explained by Rolling Stone: "The richly layered storytelling of John Prine, the croon-to-howl hybrid vocal of Tom Waits and Glen Hansard, and an intricately finger-picked guitar style that lands somewhere between Lead Belly and Lindsey Buckingham"
Unleashing a swirl of fingerpicked guitar, Stelling sings tales rooted in the storytelling of Southern folk music. Check out his appearance on NPR Music's Tiny Desk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn9aOq9aJ3w
Payton Pruitt is a Shoals songwriter who can usually be found helming the excellent Carver Commodore. We are thrilled to catch a stripped down, acoustic set from him!

Michael Nau returns this year with an expanded full-band lineup now known as The Mighty Thread, comprised of musicians from all over America who have been a part of his touring and recording life over the past few years. “We've all played together in various arrangements over the past few years”, says Nau. "We made a record with this core group last year and did a west coast trip at the end of '17. It was fun and so we want to try and keep it going wherever we can. As such, we’re going to do a string of shows coming up wherein any show listed as "...& the mighty thread" will be full band shows comprised of Will Brown on keys, Benny Yurco on guitar, Graeme Gibson on drums, Robinson Morse & Evan ApRoberts on bass and hopefully get to release some music featuring these bandmates in the near future."
Of Harpooner, the The New York Times had this to say: "Forget earworm; This power pop group of lookers will throw their Harpoon into your primary auditory cortex where it will embed itself so that you are a follower for life. Punchy songs that are inspired by yet not derivative of Harry Nillson, drugged up on touches of psych with a Midwestern twist. The tunes progress conventionally but unpredictably due to frontman Scott Schmadeke's piano-rooted mind and affinity for the major seventh note. You will hear their unmistakably love for the Beatles and their offspring; Emmitt Rhodes and Badfinger. Harpooner's 2014 Speed 7" sounds like someone set the Brill Building on fire.”
